Czech to Hungary
Another trip with Bill and this time he is bringing along some
friends. He is still on trip
probabtion. A key word here is
Hungry/Hungary. Bill’s main concern is
where he will get a hamburger. He does
not care that part of traveling is the cultural experience of eating what the
“natives” eat. He just wants a
hamburger. He almost faints every time I
say the word “goulash.” I have been
researching for this trip for about 6 months to find the most important
historical sites, restaurants, entertainment venues, etc. and his one
instruction for me was to make sure he had a hamburger.
We will be traveling in the Czech Republic (Prague and Cesky Krumlov),
Germany, Austria, and end up in Budapest.
Part of this is a Danube river cruise which we have saved up for and
since we have been married 40 years and I turned 30 this year we felt this was
our blow out trip!
Our friends for over 40 years Charlene and Ronnie will be going with us and I so hope that we will be friends after this! An extended trip of 17 days on another continent will certaininly try a marriage and friendship. Bill is not the best traveler and I hope our friends can tolerate his travel oddities. I have to anticipate his hunger needs 30 minutes prior to a possible tantrum. Additionally, I have to anticipate the state of his gastric juices to make sure that the snack/meal agrees with his digestive system. Sounds like my kids at the age of 2! If he gets on everyone’s nerves, we will just let him wander off. The only Czech that he knows is “hello” so he will never find his way home!
I have used this blog site before and it was difficult for people to make
comments. Please try because it makes it
worth writing and makes me feel connected to home. If you can’t get the blog, PM me on
Facebook. I am going to try to have it
Poor Bill. I hope you allow him to come home with you after these 17 days.
ReplyDeleteOh, to be a fly on the wall! Hope y'all have a fantastic trip. Looking forward to reading your posts!
ReplyDeleteTerri, are you guys going on a Viking River Cruise? I have been dreaming of such a thing for us - maybe next Spring or Summer. Looking forward to hearing of all your adventures and of how Mr Bill might get along without those burgers for a few days! I bet the food on the ship will be fantastic! Enjoy every minute! - Cousin Pat in Montana
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're blogging this! I love your trip narratives. Traveling with my brother-in-law must be like traveling with Bill ... we need to anticipate when he's going to get hungry during the day to avoid a meltdown and have to be seated for dinner with menu in hand no later than 7:00pm.
